Electronic Literature: What is it?
This article (by Katherine N. Hayles, 2007) surveys the development and current state of electronic literature, from the popularity of hypertext fiction in the 1980’s to the present, focusing primarily on hypertext fiction, network fiction, interactive fiction, locative narratives, installation pieces, “codework,” generative art and the Flash poem. It also discusses the central critical issues raised by electronic literature, pointing out that there is significant overlap with the print tradition. It contains links to many electronic literary works.

Electronic Literature Organization
The Electronic Literature Organization (ELO) is a nonprofit organization established in 1999 to promote and facilitate the writing, publishing, and reading of electronic literature. ELO also maintans the Electronic Literature Directory (a descriptive guide to works, authors and publishers in the field) and publishes the Electronic Literature Collection.
