ArcGIS is a geographic information system (GIS) that can be used to create digital maps, among other things, and link them to database information with a geographic component.

Availability

The VU has a campus license for ArcGIS 10.1. Staff members can request the software through the IT helpdesk. The software can also be installed at home, see the ArcGIS software at home section on the Geoplaza website.

Further remarks

Bachelor students of Archaeology use MapInfo instead of ArcGIS. They can access MapInfo in the PC room HG 13A-36.
